AMERICAN BEAUTY

SPECIALISTS IN CUSTOM-BUILT KITCHENS

For this project, the homeowners approached Better Bathrooms & Kitchens for a practical kitchen with a unique style. The exceptional design by the company’s owner, Garrett Hebden, exudes a strong American influence that makes it stand out from the crowd.

With a fresh and inviting atmosphere, the kitchen features nifty ice box latches and hinges from Domino Brass Fittings, along with a striking mural on the feature wall. These two imaginative design elements breathe life into the space and make it much more than purely functional.

The island bench houses a dishwasher and a second sink, along with a handy InnoTech soft-close drawer and door system from Hettich.

The cabinetry features American-style doors and a two-pack Dulux finish in ‘Vivid White’ that contrasts strikingly with the polished floorboards, which have a stunning ‘Black Japan’ stain.

Calacatta marble was selected for the benchtops and splashbacks to add a timeless beauty to the space, while ample bench space and state-of-the-art appliances were incorporated into the design to further enhance the kitchen’s functionality.

Project 1

CLASSIC MEETS CONTEMPORARY

AN ELEGANT EXTENSION

betterbath

Not only do the staff at Better Bathrooms & Kitchens do it better when it comes to bathroom and kitchen projects – they do their best! This stunning kitchen, designed by the company’s Karen Agnew, is a fusion of classic and contemporary.

With its striking black and white colour palette – a mixture of dark Baltic pine, and contrasting Tesrol satin two-pack doors and panels – this kitchen exudes subtle luxury. The dark flooring works well in the space, adding warmth and preventing the crisp white from appearing too stark. The overall result is an airy, light-filled area with a fresh and elegant aesthetic.

There is no denying that Better Bathrooms & Kitchens has designed a beautiful space but this kitchen is more than just a pretty face. Functionality was a key consideration for this project, and with its open walkways, streamlined design and abundance of storage, this kitchen is built with the whole family in mind.

A natural Carrara marble honed benchtop with waterfall ends provides an ideal gathering point for entertaining and family time, while the marble adds a touch of polish. The bench proved to be an architectural challenge thanks to the existing support beam positioned at one corner, however Better Bathrooms & Kitchens managed to seamlessly integrate the beam into the overall design of the space.

Previously, a wall stood level with the beam. Better Bathrooms & Kitchens removed the wall, extending the kitchen onto the outdoor decking. This extension meant that walls, flooring, original decking and stairs had to be removed and rebuilt, creating a larger and more spacious kitchen.

Located in the well-established suburb of Ascot Vale, Better Bathrooms & Kitchens specialises in kitchen, bathroom and laundry projects. The company is highly sought-after, particularly for the renovation of older homes in need of a modern update.

The company services Melbourne and surrounds and has the resources to travel for special projects, extending its reach to Greater Melbourne and country Victoria.

The Better Bathrooms & Kitchens team is a dedicated group of highly professional tradespeople who take great pride in their work. Holding registered building practitioner and Housing Industry Association (HIA) membership certificates, the company is committed to delivering quality workmanship for your kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovations. The company was also named a finalist in the 2013 national Kitchen and Bathroom Designers Institute of Australia (KBDi) Awards.

Project 2

A NATURAL LIGHT-FILLED SPACE

HIGH-END BATHROOM DESIGN

betterbath2

This bathroom was designed by Garrett Hebden, the owner and director at Better Bathrooms & Kitchens, and is an excellent example of the company’s high-end renovation skills.

Focusing on a warm colour palette, the bathroom features natural tones and clean finishes that combine to create a space that is both modern and luxurious. The spacious design also features high-quality products, including a heated towel rail and LED downlights.

The company installed a Caroma Newbury 1800 island bath, designed for two, and an open shower panel to ensure the bathing area is spacious and functional, while the four-door glass shaving cabinet provides extra storage.

Extensive structural work had to be undertaken before Better Bathrooms & Kitchens could begin re-designing the dated bathroom area. The existing bathroom entry door, dividing hall wall and existing cabinetry were all removed to open up the new bathroom space and make the new layout possible.

The window from the original bathroom was also replaced with a new highlight window as shown, providing an abundance of natural light that perfectly complements the bathroom’s LED downlights.

Once the new window was installed, Better Bathrooms & Kitchens completed the project in a stylish fashion, ensuring the new weather boards covered the old bathroom window and perfectly matched the existing boards. The final product proves once again that Better Bathrooms & Kitchens really does know bathrooms.

Project 3

ARTFUL ALLURE

CONTEMPORARY ART DECO DESIGN

Better Bathrooms & Kitchens updated this family home by designing and installing a new art-deco kitchen and bathroom. Before work could commence on the kitchen, the company removed the chimney and concrete hearth and retiled the roof. Better Bathrooms & Kitchens also removed the entry wall to make space for the new kitchen layout.

The eclectic kitchen design fuses new with old by combining modern appliances with the existing iron cooker, and incorporating a mantel bulkhead, which is a popular design accent in vintage and retro-style kitchens.

Featuring a combination of stainless steel and Smartstone Carrara benchtops, as well as old world Laminex ‘Diamond Gloss’ laminate with aluminium trim, the kitchen showcases a selection of high-quality materials that adds a superior finish to the space.

Tiled splashbacks, integrated rubbish chutes and a double sink make cooking easier than ever, while plenty of natural light and LED task lights ensure the kitchen is functional any time of the day or night.

Better Bathrooms & Kitchens has also installed a Miele warming drawer, oven, rangehood, dishwasher and burner, as well as a fridge recess large enough to fit a wide double-door fridge.

The kitchen’s spacious layout, practical storage options and stylish design make it both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

To maintain the kitchen’s art deco theme throughout the home, Better Bathrooms & Kitchens also updated the home’s bathroom with the same retro aesthetic. The company removed the existing bath, fittings, tiling and wall linings, but kept the dropped ceiling above the bath.

Featuring a neutral colour scheme with black accents, a pedestal hand basin, and a new Caroma bath, the bathroom is fully-equipped with the finest quality products.

Complete with a shower bath, mirrored cabinet and toilet, the bathroom is fully-equipped with everything you need to get ready in the morning.
