AJ’S Cabinets Project 1

This unique project by AJ’s Cabinets, dubbed the “Davidson Collaborative”, sought to create a series of townhouses that offered a more sustainable approach to design and living. Working in conjunction with the project’s developer and architect, HIP V. HYPE and Archier respectively, these striking kitchens were cleverly created by AJ’s Cabinets to offer streamlined storage and functionality.

All three townhouses feature stunning blackbutt timber veneer and an array of natural Australian materials, which complement both the post-war architecture of the homes and the contemporary aesthetics of the interiors.

Sustainability was the focus for this build, with each of the compact homes fitted with solar panels, double-glazed windows, and electric heat pumps for hot water and hydronic heating. To match this, each of the kitchens was designed to be economical in terms of space and energy. The sleek joinery was specifically designed to maximise the floorplan and allow for fluid movement between the living and working areas. This is enhanced by the integrated Fisher & Paykel appliances and the large double-door pantries that extend into the hallway.

While all three homes adhere to the same layout, each kitchen was individually finished to the style and preference of the homeowner. This resulted in a series of distinctive fittings and designs, with one opting for more earthy tones and natural timber finishes, while another chose a luminous white for the cabinetry.

AJ’s Cabinets takes on dozens of unique and distinguished projects every year, and the company prides itself on its ability to adapt and create any type of cabinetry for any style of home. Ranging from small and large residential projects, such as laundries, kitchens, and home offices, to commercial buildings and high budget architectural designs.

A family business, AJ’s Cabinets was founded by husband and wife duo AJ and Claire Deacon, and in just a few short years has expanded into a successful cabinet making company that delivers outstanding results Australia-wide.
