The team at The Design and Joinery Co are pleased to announce that its Sorrento Guest House project – boasting an expansive island bench and cohesive Florentine Walnut cabinetry – is the deserving winner of the 2024 Polytec Design Award for Excellence in Design Build VIC. The show-stopping kitchen flaunts a pink Patagonia quartzite island bench top and backsplash that can be backlit for the element of surprise, transforming the functional island into a unique entertaining experience. The space was designed with unity in mind, with the quartzite and Florentine walnut utilised throughout the space, particularly in the wardrobe, linen cupboards and bathroom vanity. The complementary features continue, with splashes of American oak with a black, Japan stain finish in the coffee table, bedhead and side tables. The design capitalises on the use of flair and ingenuity, enhancing the coffee table as a dual-purpose feature. It encases the TV as well as homing the hidden bar, which can be lifted and displayed with the press of a button.
