This intelligently designed kitchen offers serenity and spaciousness with pivotal features that bring it to life. The client desired a kitchen space that was calming with savvy storage options and the laundry space integrated for an open plan feel. The sense of quiet is introduced by the soft colour palette. Namely, the light sage green cabinetry that makes use of Dulux’s ‘Powdered Gum’ with a two-pack finish. This smooth palette with a sleek, handle-free design is a special touch. All doors within the kitchen are fitted with touch catches to offer a frictionless experience, maintaining the tranquil environment that also prioritises functionality.

The calming elements continue with the off-white pearlescent backsplash featuring tiles subtly varying in shade and the Meganite Light Grey benchtop that crowns the simplistic island. This minimalist design in a soft hue provides interest without clutter that closes the space, immediately soothing the mind of those who enter.

Storage and spaciousness were a central focus of the project. The design makes use of the available space by combining the laundry with the kitchen. This is achieved seamlessly through the colour coordination of the large appliances – both the dishwasher and the washing machine present the same shade of sleek grey to appear completely intentional and integrated within the space. The excellent storage systems continue, with kickbox drawers, deeper cabinets and drawers, and dividers in cupboards specifically for oven trays.

The design also makes use of daring choices to add points of visual interest. The pantry door features a custom-made oversized timber knob. This hero feature integrates flawlessly, with the notable addition of a timber cutlery glide that makes the most of dead space. This kitchen, within a two up, two down townhouse complex several decades old, sings with new life in its peaceful colour choices, bold pops of wooden textures, and ingenious storage design that makes life more seamless and serene.
