This kitchen was designed in a collaboration between Monbulk Cabinets proprietor Kevin Dicker and the homeowner. The open and spacious family kitchen stands out from the crowd thanks to the clever integration of different materials.

The kitchen floor is made from Queensland spotted gum while doors and panels by Finer Timber Doors feature Tasmanian myrtle that has been finished in a two-pack gloss. The extensive use of wood in the space is complemented by the 50mm Quantum Quartz stone benchtop in ‘Storm’. This bench is square-edged with waterfall ends and is a true standout in the design. The bench was made by Acropolis Marble & Granite.

When the client approached Monbulk Cabinets, it was with a brief for an aesthetically appealing and functional kitchen. Soft-close drawers, pull-out spice racks, detergent racks and an effective and efficient working triangle have contributed to achieving this brief. There are multiple work stations in the room, and plenty of storage.

In order to accommodate the new kitchen design, it was necessary for Monbulk Cabinets to remove an existing wall and install a steel beam to open the area up and make it more welcoming and contemporary.

The new and improved kitchen is enhanced by stainless steel kickboards, Dulux ‘Hog Bristle’ paint on the walls, and low-voltage LED downlights, which not only provide ambient lighting but are also environmentally friendly and economical.

Quality appliances were also installed, including a Schweigen canopy, underslung Franke sink, Bosch dishwasher and Fisher & Paykel fridge.
