Chaucer Cabinets
To develop the design for the featured kitchen, significant attention to detail was required. The space had to be aesthetically appealing and fit with the rustic ambience in the rest of the home, while also being practical to work in.
Built by Chaucer Cabinets, the finished result has not only met the client’s brief, but exceeded it. The large, traditional looking island bench is comprised of solid American oak with sculptured legs that enhance the classic aesthetic in the space. The bench doesn’t just look good, it is also functional – plumbing and electrical cables run through the centre of the legs.
Doors and panels have American oak veneer with a solid timber edge, and the bench is topped with Caeasarstone. The island bench also contains an undermount sink, and with plenty of space for guests to sit at the bench, it doubles as a table, making it the perfect place for entertaining.
The kitchen’s flooring is also American oak and has been finished in a brown stain. The tiled splashback adds to the room’s country-feel, while round brushed knobs on cabinets and drawers provide a quaint and effective touch. These handles were also used in the bathroom and on the lounge room cabinetry, which Chaucer Cabinets also built.
The bathroom vanity has a fresh, modern look that both stands out against the old-world setting and complements it. Cabinets in the bathroom were finished in a two-pack satin paint, and the benchtop in this room is also Caesarstone.
Chaucer Cabinets has been producing joinery of the highest quality since the company’s inception in 1992. Owner Lance Curtin is an experienced cabinetmaker who has worked in the industry for more than 20 years.
