De Wacht Cabinets Project 1
Established by Craig and Debbie de Wacht ten years ago, de Wacht Cabinets have won more than 22 awards, including the prestigious Cabinet Maker of Year 2007–2008. In the 2010 Cabinets Makers Association Awards, they were finalists in four categories and received a special commendation.
The featured project illustrates the quality craftsmanship in their work. The clients wanted to keep two existing windows and an external door in their kitchen but needed a more functional room with lots of bench space and storage. The kitchen epitomises the modern country look and boasts easy accessibility for family and friends when entertaining. A walk-in pantry with bi-fold doors doubles as a food preparation area and appliance cupboard, while soft-close Häfele deep drawers satisfy the need for plenty of storage.
Consultant designer Su Jamieson worked with de Wacht Cabinets and the clients to design the kitchen, which also boasts a Blackwood Timber veneer island bench, downlights, and clean, crisp neutral colours. Moulded Emporite doors and granite benchtops complete the stunning room.
Equally impressive is the glamorous bathroom. His and hers design has created attractive symmetry – there are two basins and two drawer banks – as well as a large mirror with tile surround, stone benchtops, a sunken bath and double shower. Also designed in conjunction with Su Jamieson Design, the bathroom features the same Blackwood Timber veneer and Häfele soft-close drawers seen in the kitchen, creating continuity between the spaces. With a stone splashback and neutral colour palette, the room is a relaxing and contemporary space and blends with the home and the surrounding natural beauty of the rural property.
Continuing the Blackwood timber theme in the home, the fireplace unit complements the other rooms and stores all the clients’ CDs and DVDs.
De Wacht Cabinets now work out of their bigger and better premises in Rosebud and their new showroom offers 3D design.
