Let’s Talk Kitchens & Interiors Project 8

Designed by Let’s Talk Kitchens & Interiors’ certified kitchen designer, Mark Lewthwaite, this distinguished kitchen pairs classical style with state-of-the-art technology to create a space that is both beautiful and functional.

The homeowners sought a kitchen that would complement their federation-style home, while incorporating modern appliances. To meet this goal, Let’s Talk Kitchen’s & Interiors seamlessly integrated both the refrigerator and dishwasher into the classic shaker style cabinetry.

A range of highly detailed decorative elements add depth and charisma to the space and further enhance the home’s unique style. Custom capping mould and proud kickboards offer a regal flair and stand out as a stunning feature against the simplistic cabinetry profile – a look that harmonises with the home’s original cornicing. Elegant pewter handles and doorknobs further this traditional aesthetic, whilst introducing a touch of contrast into the kitchen.

This zone was designed with careful attention to detail to ensure that the layout maximised the available space. As the room had several doorways along the walls, the joinery had to be designed to work around the flow of the house.

The L-shaped layout and island bench offers a functional floorplan with ample bench space for the keen home chef, along with designated areas for both the coffee machine and KitchenAid mixer. The large island bench provides an extra workstation, perfect for streamlined preparation and entertaining. The beautiful Consentino natural granite benchtops contrast with this radiant zone, and the lambs tongue edges supplement the detailing of the cabinetry.

A separate buffet and hutch unit were custom-designed and installed to offer additional storage for the kitchen as well as a place for the homeowners to display all of their more decorative pieces. A timber top was chosen for this piece to complement the house’s repolished Baltic pine floorboards.

While the style of the kitchen adheres to the home’s historical charm, sleek modern appliances were included to ensure the ultimate luxury experience. LED strip lights illuminate the slim Wolf cooktop and integrated rangehood, allowing for ample visibility whilst reducing the kitchen’s energy usage. The ILVE oven and combination steam oven are perfectly adjacent to the cooktop for ease-of-access and simplified operation. LED downlights work in tandem with the home’s natural light, allowing easy adjustment to ensure perfect visibility and balance throughout the day.

Rounding off this marvellous design, textured subway tiles by Southern Cross Ceramics form an appealing splashback and provide an additional level of detail into this elaborate zone. The same tiles in a soft blue take pride of place above the buffet, incorporating a splash of colour and completing this timeless kitchen.

Another of the company’s impeccable projects was named a finalist for this year’s Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute (KBDi) awards – a testament to Let’s Talk Kitchens & Interiors’ superior craftsmanship and eye for detail.
