Smith & Smith Kitchens Project 36

Beth Paron of Smith & Smith Kitchens worked closely with the homeowners to create this gorgeous kitchen, alfresco, bathroom and study space. The owners’ vision encompassed a functional yet simple design with a certain ‘wow factor’ to match the style of the new home, and Smith & Smith Kitchens certainly delivered.

Thick two-pack frame cabinetry in ‘Domino’ anchors the stunning island bench in the kitchen, making it a substantial feature and allowing Smith & Smith Kitchens to accessorise with the beautiful Neolith Beton benchtop, which appears as if it were floating. This benchtop is heat resistant, allowing for the cooktop to be installed directly on top. Custom-made American Oak doors on the back wall pull the space together with their warmth.

The American Oak makes another appearance along the other wall in the form of a gorgeous feature wine cabinet, standing out against the textured finish two-pack flat plain doors in ‘White’. Here, a narrow essentials pantry symmetrically frames the double in-built ovens, saving the homeowner from going back-and-forth to the butler’s pantry for frequently used items – ticking all the boxes for high functionality.

Open-plan living is well and truly achieved in this home; the kitchen and dining area connects to a charming alfresco with the help of large floor-to-ceiling windows. The alfresco includes an outdoor kitchen, replete with a continuation of the black two-pack cabinetry, a barbecue cooktop, minifridge and an eye-catching exposed red-brick wall.

Clean minimalism takes the bathroom to new levels. The cool grey tiles on the floor and walls are complemented by an American Oak floating vanity, which matches the cabinetry in the kitchen for an overall cohesive home design. The benchtop, sink and luxurious freestanding bathtub adhere to the simple styling, producing a serene place where one can unwind.

The study area is a neat reflection of the kitchen and dining space, with matching black overhead cupboards and a floating desk braced by two walls in a spacious nook. The handle-less panels maintain a smooth look, which works in tandem with the Dulux ‘White on White’ walls and polished concrete floor. LED strip lighting running beneath the cupboards is a fresh and modern touch.
