Westside Cabinets Project 3

Nathan Bulner of Westside Cabinets led the design and construction of this incredible kitchen, which sits at the pinnacle of the quality joinery work featured throughout the rest of the home. The skilled team implemented innovative strategies to create a ‘wow’ factor in each room; there is clear evidence of this, from the kitchen to the walk-in pantry, bathroom and wardrobe.

The strikingly contemporary kitchen is part of an open-plan layout, with a large island bench dividing the cooking zone from the main living area. Here, family members can gather around the 80mm-thick ‘Airy Concrete’ Caesarstone benchtop – a glorious statement piece all on its own. Westside Cabinets opted to integrate a cooktop on the same stone for a clean and seamless look.

Handle-less cabinetry in anti-fingerprint black allows for a streamlined aesthetic and is the perfect neutral backdrop for the feature blackbutt overhead cupboards. Most of the base cabinets are drawers for easy access and optimal storage, while the overheads and bin cabinet have Blum’s SERVO-DRIVE technology, creating a highly functional environment.

Tucked behind the centrally located kitchen is the butler’s pantry, where similar materials, including the black cabinetry and blackbutt timber, have been incorporated for cohesion. A combination of open and closed drawers plus open overhead shelving provides generous food and goods storage. Extra bench space prevents clutter in the kitchen by providing a nifty spot for small appliances.

The use of blackbutt timber in the bathrooms give them a relaxing, retreat-like feel, providing a touch of warmth that works in harmony with the cooler grey floor-to-ceiling tiles. Between the floating vanity, matte black tapware and feature pendant lights, the bathrooms are the epitome of fresh, modern design.

The master en suite seamlessly transitions into the walk-in wardrobe, featuring a parallel layout for distinct his and hers sections. Blackbutt timber makes an appearance again, forming the many drawers and shelves. LED strip lighting along the top works to highlight the beautiful joinery and adds a touch of luxury.
