Established in 2005 by Simon Vella, Vella’s Designer Cabinets builds about 50 kitchens each year and specialises in designer kitchens. When working on the featured kitchen, it was important to achieve an elegant colonial feel as requested by the clients.

To create the look the clients wanted, Simon Vella designed the kitchen with special attention to detail. Traditional features such as corbels, bolection moulds, a mantel above the stove and a timber island bench have been incorporated to fulfil the brief for a kitchen with genuine country charm. In keeping with the theme of the room, all appliances have been hidden either in the butler’s pantry or behind the integrated cupboard doors, maintaining the look of the kitchen without affecting functionality.

The island bench is topped with solid blackwood timber, while the bench housing the stove and sink is topped with striking natural granite Giallo Veneziano and features a lambs tongue profile.

A tiled splashback, polished spotted gum timber floor, ‘Clotted Cream’ Dulux paint, downlights and Albedor New Antique white gloss laminate kickboards, doors and drawers have been used to create the rustic look, while a Falcon Classic Cooker and fully integrated double-drawer dishwasher provide the room with mod cons. Howards silver colonial handles in Antique Brass add another dimension to the traditional theme.
