This highly personalised bathroom project evades trend traps, focusing on the client’s specific needs and desired aesthetics. After purchasing a new home, the client wanted to renovate the bathroom and laundry space to truly reflect their own style and personality. Warmth and a sense of calm were the primary pursuits, with materials chosen to embody an artisanal feel and contrast the heritage of the existing home.

This hybrid bathroom and laundry was carefully planned around an existing chimney, which proved too costly to remove, leading to adaptions to the original designs. A shower niche was created within the residual space next to the chimney, the bathroom joinery was designed around a stacked washer and dryer to allow storage above, and custom vanities incorporate laundry baskets underneath along with additional storage.

High-quality, sustainable materials were essential to achieving a luxurious look. Terrazzo benchtops were combined with custom walnut joinery, set against a backdrop of monolithic limestone-look tiles and pops of brass, while handmade ceramic wall lighting evokes a boutique feel. Through thoughtful planning, premium materials and expert craftsmanship, this project exhibits a masterclass in the use of space and solution-focused design.
