Better Bathrooms & Kitchens Project 18
TAILORED TRANQUILITY
This latest kitchen, designed by Hitika Gupta and built by Better Kitchens & Bathrooms, shines with a seamless fusion of classic elegance and thoughtful modern design. The Taj Mahal natural stone benchtop and splashback are the true centrepieces, imbuing a sense of understated luxury that elevate the space without overwhelming it. By pairing timeless shaker cabinetry and polished timber floors with contemporary touches – like a sleek standalone bar in satin ink and hidden appliance cabinetry – the design achieves a perfect balance of tradition and innovation. It feels refined yet approachable, timeless yet undeniably fresh.
The client’s brief was to create a bright, functional and elegant kitchen that not only embodied timelessness but integrated perfectly with the space. The homeowners wanted a design that maximised natural light, introducing warmth and improved storage while also incorporating modern conveniences and thoughtful details.
The main challenge was ensuring the layout flowed seamlessly into the dining and living areas. Initially, the presence of a dividing wall restricted both natural light and functionality. After conversations with the client, the team decided to completely remove the wall – a turning point for the entire project.
Maximising space was significant to the design. Removing a wall instantly improved flow and function, allowing the cabinetry to extend further and creating an open-plan layout. Bi-fold sliding doors now conceal small appliances, keeping surfaces clear and the kitchen both practical and stunning visually. Even the navy satin standalone bar was carefully planned – adding storage while serving as a visual focal point. Every element works in harmony to craft a kitchen that feels spacious, uncluttered and incredibly usable.
Sustainability was a high priority. The original timber floors were restored, reducing waste and instilling character. Energy-efficient matte black appliances and a sensor-activated brass tap promote eco-friendly living. The design’s emphasis on concealed storage and timeless finishes supports longevity, reducing the need for frequent updates.
Material and design choices balanced practicality and aesthetics masterfully. Smart storage keeps the space clutter free, while brass accents and warm pendant lighting tie the look together. Every detail reflects a vision – one personal to the client and enduring in its beauty and longevity.
