A REFINED COASTAL RETREAT

This project focuses on natural materials and colours inspired by the home’s architecture, as well as the surrounding coastal landscape. Careful selection of natural materials, such as the stunning quartzite stone used in the kitchen and living areas, provided a colour scheme focus inspired by the dramatic hues of the Sorrento landscape.

The kitchen area is the hero, boasting a 4-metre-long island where guests can sit, chat and make pasta. The owners love to entertain, so the kitchen plays an integral role in the house, where catering for family and friends is envisioned as a common occurrence.

The kitchen joinery was finished in two-pack Dulux Apparition & George Feathers Lignapal, vibrant Oak Grey wash, Textured Matt and vertical grain direction. Overheads also have aluminium framed doors powder coated in Dulux Duatec Duralloy, with glass in Evening Haze Satinite glass and LED lights underneath.

Tempest Quartzite Natural stone benchtops in the kitchen and living room seating area showcase a blend of warm colours and dramatic beauty – embodying a striking statement piece. Natural wool carpets are used in the bedrooms, with terrazzo flooring in the wet areas and timber floorboards in other spaces. Some tapware features tumbled brass that will patina with time.

The home is thoughtfully designed for its soon-to-retire owners, with abundant storage and easy-access drawers throughout. It balances timeless, practical design with ease of movement and a strong sense of personality. If one word could describe this project, it’s harmony – every colour unified in the execution of quiet luxury.
