Better Bathrooms & Kitchens Project 7
For this stunning renovation, Better Bathrooms & Kitchens transformed an existing art deco house into a luxurious modern home.
Seeking a more spacious abode, the homeowners requested an open-plan design for both the kitchen and bathroom, a requirement that became the driving force behind Better Bathrooms & Kitchens’ breathtaking design.
To maximise the space, two internal walls were removed to open up the kitchen to both the laundry and living area. The bathroom underwent a similar process, and the linen closet was relocated to create a larger space. This expansive look is enhanced by the home’s large windows, which allow ample light to shine through the living and working areas.
The laundry was carefully integrated into the kitchen, with all the large appliances neatly tucked away in the sleek, full-length cabinets to create seamless cohesion between the two zones. The same white gloss subway tiles form a splashback for both the kitchen and the laundry for additional visual harmony.
The kitchen itself is the perfect blend of contemporary luxury and art deco aesthetic. The classic shaker style cabinets provide an abundance of storage and complement the theme of the existing interiors, while the integrated appliances and minimalist Caesarstone benchtops give the zone a modern edge.
The Dulux ‘Lexicon’ two-pack cabinets enhance the airy and expansive theme of the interior, while the dark cabinetry offers a welcome contrast from the home’s bright complexion, introducing depth and definition into the design.
Flowing throughout the kitchen, laundry and living areas, the Tasmanian oak flooring works with natural light to create a sense of warmth, producing a design that is simultaneously cosy and spacious. The living area itself maintains much of the home’s original style, but the stunning feature lighting and modern embellishments mimic the kitchen’s new state-of-the-art feel.
The bathroom boasts the same subway tiles as the kitchen and laundry, while matte concrete hexagonal tiles form a striking feature piece and add an industrial flair to the room. The brushed copper fixtures and fittings tie in nicely with this style and incorporate warm touches throughout.
Better Bathrooms & Kitchens took the client’s request for a modern, extended space in its stride. As a result, the elegant, step-less shower was carefully designed to give the bathroom a more open feel, enhanced by the natural light entering in through the adjacent window. The floating Timberline vanity amplifies floor space, while the Caesarstone ‘Snow’ benchtop and Allure basin give an air of sophistication.
The sleek, mirrored cabinet echoes the home’s minimalist approach, maximising storage and available bench space in the bathroom, while LED downlights add a touch of luxe and tranquillity to the space.
