This classic and bold shaker-style kitchen renovation has plenty of personality and is perfectly suited to the clients who sought a classic and homely aesthetic with lots of character and an inviting atmosphere.

The homeowners requested that the new kitchen have a butler sink, a wine fridge, and that storage space was maximised, including display shelving and under bench storage, to ensure that there was enough room for buying pantry items in bulk. Bench space was maintained and a nook to hide the kettle and toaster was seamlessly included in the design.

Because these clients love to cook, it was important to create a space that felt large and inviting for them both to be in at the same time. The original tired space was transformed into a kitchen with character that makes the most of the available space in the small townhouse. The marble-look benchtop, splashback tile, brass handles and timber shelving complement the classic navy and white aesthetic, and the overhead cabinetry was built-in quite high along with a small bulkhead to maintain the cornice. This helped make the kitchen feel larger without changing the footprint.

The function and workflow in the space was in no way compromised; the dishwasher was placed to the left of the sink and the bin on the right, and an oil and spice pull out was included near the cooktop. An extra drawer was designed under the oven for trays, a large pantry with internal drawers maximises storage, and a bi-fold door makes the overhead cupboard easier to access.
