FRESH AND FUNCTIONAL

This 1990s terrace house in Richmond was showing its age, in desperate need of a modern makeover. The client, a keen cook and regular host of large gatherings. The new kitchen not only create a new purpose-built kitchen, but to take the renovation to the next level and rejuvenate the entire property.

The existing kitchen had an awkward layout that wasn’t fit for purpose, with old terracotta tile floors and a peeling vinyl wrap kitchen. The new design brief was centred on optimising storage, allowing the clients to easily store, locate and utilise their utensils and appliances, creating the ultimate functional and entertaining experience for years to come. His-and-her mini butler zones were incorporated to further enhance the hosting experience, with porcelain Patagonia feature stone with shadowline giving the kitchen a ‘wow factor’. A colour palette of orange, yellow and green was subtly introduced to complement the stain glass window that was relocated from the client’s childhood home.

Marrying the internal and external spaces has created a perfect kitchen for entertaining in all types of Melbourne weather. The new uniformed dining space provides function, form and visual moments in a place where people can easily come together and want to come back to.
