This stunning kitchen earned one of the team members an award at the 2010 Cabinet Makers Association awards. With a challenging angled roofline, overhead cabinetry, cantilevered benchtop and a sleek, streamlined look, the kitchen achieved its primary aim of capturing the spectacular ocean views from any vantage point. This kitchen, also by SCLK, achieves a seamless blend of old and new. The homeowner was keen to ensure the new kitchen integrated with and complemented the period features of the rest of the house, and this formed a key component of the design brief.

The use of striking Calcutta natural marble provides an attractive counterpoint to the traditional wooden floorboards, while the stainless steel benchtop provides a harmonious link between inside and out. Warm and inviting, the kitchen features a stylish yet uncluttered look that is enhanced by the fully functional butler’s pantry, which has been tastefully tucked away from the main part of the kitchen.

With two bathrooms and two powder rooms built by SCLK, this home provides comfort and convenience for the client’s family and for guests. There is floating cabinetry in all wet areas and a continuance of the marble features from the kitchen into the bathrooms. SCLK ensured that the detailing in these rooms was sympathetic to the features of the period home and that these new rooms complemented the existing house. A clean yet warm feel has been achieved through the use of a timber veneer in two of the rooms, while the white powder room has the marble on the vanity tops, as well as satin-finish cabinetry.

With customised cabinetry by SCLK installed throughout the house, including the study, laundry, bedrooms, family room and hallway, a timeless and individual look has been achieved.
