Mint Kitchen Group Project 11
Awarded Best Medium Kitchen Design Victoria at the 2015 Kitchen and Bathroom Designers Institute (KBDi) awards, this kitchen is a perfect example of Mint Kitchen Group’s contemporary one-of-a-kind designs, which are stylish, functional and durable.
Lindsay Williams from Mint Kitchen Group juxtaposed gloss, lineal styling against textured timber veneer finishes and custom glass printed splashbacks – featuring images of a well-known Italian actress – in this stunning one-of-a-kind kitchen.
Located in the heart of an open-plan, single-storey home in Melbourne’s east, the kitchen is fully-functional and showcases a separate bar. The bar area incorporates an eye-catching, translucent acrylic backlit panel and floating overhead shelves. This is the perfect atmospheric space for kicking-back on a Friday night or holding social gatherings.
Finished in a combination of ‘Frost White’ and ‘Carbon Black’ high-gloss acrylic with two-tone 3D acrylic edging, the monochromatic colour scheme perfectly complements the kitchen’s artistic style. ‘Raven’ reconstituted quartz benchtops in 20mm were used in the main part of the kicthen, while 80mm ‘Atlantic Salt’ reconstituted quartz with waterfall edges was used on the breakfast and bar tops.
High-gloss cabinetry complements the high-relief timber veneer shelving, while the feature cabinets are finished in ‘Smoked Lime Oak’. This unique mixture of materials and interesting textural finishes is further enhanced by the glass shelving running alongside the fridge. Mixed with modern aluminium wine racks and ‘Violet Aurora’ Perspex, the shelves are one of the kitchen’s stand-out features.
The inclusion of handle-free cabinetry, large pull-out drawers and a bi-fold appliance cupboard makes the space functional and maintains the clean lines and sleek finishes that make this design so impressive.
